God's Tears

If rain were God's tears,
His pain would bring us life,
For we all thirst for water
And need it to survive.

Yes, His heart was broken once,
When His Son was crucified.
Truly, the tears of God
Brought us into life.

For we are all sinners,
And for sinners Jesus died,
Taking all of our punishment
So that we may stand justified.

But that perfect Lamb,
Today, He is alive.
He is the hope for all people,
And the King with scars in His side.

May we never forget the pain,
The sorrow, the tears He cried,
All for love's sake; for us,
The greatest sacrifice.

When the heavens open,
Remember all His strife,
And give thanks to the LORD
Who, by His death, brought us life.

  1. If wishes were horses,
    then beggars would ride
    and never go hungry,
    all clothed in horse hide.
