O God, my soul yearns for You
As a tree thirsts for water,
As a wife for the arms of her husband,
As a starving child for bread.
My need for You surpasses
My need for oxygen
Or shelter or food,
For You are my refuge.
You sustain me completely,
And withhold from me
Nothing that I am in need of.
You are my great Provider.
O God, You have blessed me
Richly indeed, giving to me
Much more than I could have
Rightly requested of You.
Why then my soul lusts
After yet more, I do not know.
All I need is You.
You satisfy me like no other.
All I desire is to know You more,
To love You more, to serve You more,
To worship You, O God.
You alone are worthy.
Forgive me, O Lord!
Have mercy on me,
For I am sinful.
Wash me clean
Of all my iniquities.
My heart is traitorous
And it is fickle.
Lord, let it not separate us,
Because You are life.
Without You, I die.
Ah, Lord God,
You are most beautiful.
Holy. Mighty. Awesome.
I kneel before you,
Trembling in Your presence.
My soul overflows
I cannot contain the joy
That You have bestowed upon me.
Peace and hope
Are all that I know.
You are God.
Yes, You are God.
You alone are God,
And I will worship You.
Forever I will praise You.
